Paying Fines

Parking Tickets

If paying a traffic ticket, please carefully follow the instructions on the payout schedule given to you with the ticket to determine the correct amount to pay. Keep in mind that the clerk's office must receive your payment by the due date stated on the ticket for the amount paid to be considered correct and paid on time.Stay to Pay When a Judge in Hamilton County Municipal Court imposes a fine they often will allow the fine and costs to be paid at a later date by granting a "Stay to Pay". If so, the fine and costs may be paid anytime before, or on, the stay date the same way that all other fines are paid. No individual will face jail time for unpaid fines unless it has been first determined, at a formal hearing, that he/she is not indigent and refuses to pay said fine. In no instance may an individual be jailed for court costs. Individuals may consult with an attorney prior to and during all hearings. Failure to timely pay fines and costs may result in an order of Community Service or the debt being referred to a collection agency. Additionally, failure to pay fines in a timely manner could result in an order of license forfeiture. Fines and Other Amounts Paid Through Probation.
