Cases are referred by Local Rule, General Order of Reference (M9600400), Individual Order of Reference, and Special Order of Reference.

Those matters referred by General Order of Reference include foreclosure cases, administrative appeals, civil forfeiture cases, certificates for qualification of employment, and requests for car titles. Cases referred to the magistrates by general order of reference are heard by a magistrate until judgment.

Under Civ R. 53(C)(1)(b) and Civ. R 53(2), with unanimous written consent of the parties, a magistrate may preside over any civil jury trial.

Motions for Default Judgment on liquidated damages are reviewed by the magistrates. Please see Local Rule 13 for the guidelines to submit Motions for Default Judgment.

All hearings for default, attachments/replevin, executions and evictions, are referred by Local Rule 23 and are scheduled at dates and times designated by the Assignment Commissioner(513) 946-5930.

The magistrates handle arraignment and extraditions pursuant to Local Rule 7.

The magistrates preside over judgment debtor exams and garnishment hearings in accordance with Local Rule 19.

Pursuant to Local Rule 37, the magistrate presides over all hearings required under R.C. §2903.214, Civil Stalking Protection Orders.
