At the request of the Court, our agency provides emergency release activities in conjunction with its role as Court Jail Monitor. Our agency classifies risk profiles defendant needs for those eligible and coordinates this information with local criminal justice agencies and treatment providers prior to and post adjudication. The motion to mitigate and special plea docket activities have emerged from this process.
Pro Se Motions - A defendant may file a motion for mitigation or request for change of sentence on their own behalf as a pro se motion. Our agency collects and attaches subsidiary documentation to the defendant’s Pro Se motion to assist judges in their review. Pro Se Motions can be approved or denied via court entry or an official court hearing. Defendants are given notification of court outcome and any related court hearings.

Transition from Jail to the Community – Our agency collaborates with community and criminal justice system partners to intervene with each detainee/offender on an individual basis upon their return to the community from jail. Typical participants, ineligible for specialty dockets, are ordered or can volunteer to participate in a secured treatment setting which is combined with community treatment referrals and supervision upon release from jail. Successful completion may result in jail or prison diversion, mitigation of sentence, or reduction in other court-ordered obligations.
