{"id":3146,"date":"2016-01-28T16:25:16","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T16:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/?page_id=3146"},"modified":"2026-01-28T14:16:55","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T14:16:55","slug":"common-pleas-court-judge-katie-casch","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/index.php\/common-pleas-court-judge-katie-casch\/","title":{"rendered":"Common Pleas Court Judge Katie Casch"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row \"><div class=\"span3 \"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Casch-New-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-21866\" src=\"https:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Casch-New-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"span9 personnel-style\"><h2>Honorable Katie Casch<\/h2>\n<p>Hamilton County Courthouse<br \/>\n1000 Main Street<br \/>\nRoom 510<br \/>\nCincinnati, Ohio 45202<\/p>\n<p>Tim Noel, Bailiff<br \/>\nPhone Number: 513-946-5790<\/p>\n<p>Linda Johnson, Staff Attorney<br \/>\nljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org<br \/>\nPhone Number: 513-946-5791<br \/>\nFax Number:\u00a0513-946-5792<\/p>\n<h1><strong><u>COURTROOM PROCEDURES<\/u><\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>CASE MANAGEMENT\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In criminal cases, scheduling is done through the bailiff, Tim Noel.<\/p>\n<p>In civil cases, a trial schedule will be set at the initial case management conference.\u00a0 Case management conferences and status reports may be conducted by telephone unless the court orders otherwise.\u00a0 Plaintiff\u2019s Counsel has the responsibility to get the opposing counsel(s) on the phone for a conference call prior to calling the Court.<\/p>\n<p>If parties desire an extension of the deadlines set in the case management conference, it must be done via written motion.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>MOTION PRACTICE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A courtesy copy of dispositive motions, along with a Word-formatted proposed Entry, must be emailed to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org\">ljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The case caption should be included in the email\u2019s subject line.<\/p>\n<p>The timelines for responses to and replies in support of motions will follow those imposed by the Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure and any applicable local rule.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel should be familiar with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/index.php\/local-rules\/\">Local Rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Court will set hearings for motions on a case-by-case basis, either\u00a0<em>sua sponte<\/em>\u00a0or at the request of a party.\u00a0 Motion hearing exhibits must be provided to the opposing party and the Court.\u00a0 To request the status of a pending motion or to alert the court of an urgent request, counsel should contact either the bailiff (criminal cases) or the staff attorney (civil cases).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>CIVIL PRETRIAL CONFERENCE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>During the initial case management conference, a pretrial conference will be set approximately two weeks prior to trial and are conducted in person.\u00a0 Attorneys shall have their clients present for the pretrials.<\/p>\n<p>Pretrial statements are due at least three business days before the pretrial conference. Pretrial statements should follow the format in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hamiltoncountycourts.org\/index.php\/local-rules\/\">Local Rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Motions in limine should be filed before the pretrial.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel must prepare complete proposed jury instructions and submit them to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org\">ljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org<\/a>\u00a0in Word format prior to the pretrial conference.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>TRIAL<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Trials will commence at 10am and continue until approximately 4pm, with a one-hour lunch and occasional recesses.<\/p>\n<p>There is no time limit for\u00a0voir dire, but counsel is expected to keep\u00a0voir dire<em>\u00a0<\/em>direct.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>DISCOVERY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Discovery time limits are set at the initial case management conference. The Court expects opposing parties to be courteous and respectful regarding discovery. If a discovery dispute arises, parties must attempt to work it out before seeking Court involvement.\u00a0 The Court generally discourages discovery motions and expects counsel to resolve discovery issues short of court intervention.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>COURTROOM ETIQUETTE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Counsel and parties are expected to be professional, respectful, and courteous at all times. When speaking during a hearing or trial, counsel should stand, either at the podium or at their table.
