ABOUT JUDGE KATIE CASCH<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Katie Casch serves as a judge on the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, presiding over criminal and civil cases. Her criminal docket includes serious felonies such as aggravated murder, felonious assault, robbery, and rape, while her civil docket involves lawsuits seeking at least $15,000.<\/p>\n

Certified by the Supreme Court of Ohio as a specialty docket judge, Judge Casch presides over a felony mental health court for individuals with serious mental illness. She also serves as a New Lawyer Mentor.<\/p>\n

Judge Casch spent more than 10 years as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Hamilton County, prosecuting thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases, including crimes against children and animals. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati. A longtime Cincinnati-area resident, she and her husband are raising their family in Hamilton County.<\/p>\n

COURTROOM PROCEDURES<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

CASE MANAGEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

In criminal cases, scheduling is done through the bailiff, Tim Noel.<\/p>\n

In civil cases, a trial schedule will be set at the initial case management conference. Case management conferences and status reports may be conducted by telephone or in person.<\/p>\n

MOTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please send a courtesy copy of dispositive motions, along with a Word-formatted proposed Entry, to ljohnson@cms.hamilton-co.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please include the case number in the subject line.<\/p>\n

The Court will set a hearing for oral arguments on motions if requested. The Court may also ask for a hearing on a motion.<\/p>\n

If a case needs immediate attention, please contact either the Criminal Bailiff, Tim Noel, or Staff Attorney, Linda Johnson, at the emailed addresses above.<\/p>\n

CIVIL PRETRIAL CONFERENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the initial case management conference, a pretrial conference will be set approximately two weeks prior to trial and will be conducted in person. All parties, including the Plaintiff and Defendant, should be present with their attorneys at the pretrial conference.<\/p>\n

Please send a pretrial statement at least three business days before the pretrial conference.<\/p>\n

TRIAL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trials will commence at 10 a.m. and continue until approximately 4 p.m., with a one-hour lunch.<\/p>\n

The Court does not give time restrictions on voir dire.<\/p>\n
